The Color of a Lie

Everyday I ask the kids I teach a thought provoking and creative question.
I gather these questions from many places and sources, including my own unique little head. I ran across this question a few weeks ago and asked my kids their thoughts.
They were interesting to say the least.
In this time of election and political murk, I wonder what would happen if this question could come true...would we really want to know?

So here it is:

What if people turned bright purple every time they told a lie?

Okay, it is your turn. I want to know your thoughts about this question. I'll let you know some of the kids answers and my own tomorrow.

One last thought as you ponder the consequences of this question:

Proverbs 12:22 "The Lord detest lying lips, but He delights in men who are truthful."

Can't wait for your answers! And I'm not lying!

We'd have a lot of purple people walking around! It would either cause massive change in people's behavior or they would do like Moses did and just wear a veil. Which would cause major fashion changes as many sought to cover up, big time. Interesting thought.

There'd be a lot of purple people and a great movement to make it socially/morally acceptable. I wonder how many NON-purple people there would be?

Since we're talking purple, where is that phrase from... 'the purple people-ater'? Lies have a way of eating you up and all that purple would just take over.

In response to Barb - Sing it with me... "It was a one-eyed, one-horned, flying purple people eater!" Ha ha. Now if you add one of those to the mix THEN there might be repentance! LOL

There would be a lot of purple people. Being purple (and lying) would become the norm and completely acceptable. Christians might cooperate with Christ a little more and then would really stand out in a crowd.

I'm a terrible liar, thank goodness, so it doesn't much matter if I turned purple or not!

I'd have to agree with Barb. At first, the people would try to hide their purple. Then they would find a few others who were always purple and form some sort of association. Then they would take their purple association and claim that they were being mistreated as purple people. Then society, not wanting to offend anyone's right to choose to be purple, would do what they could to make it acceptable to be purple as much as you want. The Upside? You could drink as much grape kool-aid as you want and not be embarassed by any staining.

OK, well...I am picturing a lot of Barney dinosaurs walking around...all that purple!

Purple is my favorite color, so I am personally hoping it would be a different color!

Thankfully, we are made righteous and blamless through His blood. The beautiful, precious red blood.

Thanks for your prayers! I updated my post about surgery. :)

This is kinda like peeing in the pool when you were younger and it turned colors and everyone knew you peed in the pool!

Maybe the purple people and the non-purple people would end up getting together. next thing you know, there would be mauve and lavender people. Then you would be judged by the shade of your purplenish. If you were light purple, you would think you were better than the dark purple etc.
It would be very interesting...and scary....like the Scarlet Color.

Hmmmm...now this is something to really think about. How many times do we exaggerate or leave out just a little of the truth to make ourselves look bette? I know I would end up quite convicted as my shade changed more than I expected it to.
